Isn’t repurposing just reposting?
No. Reposting shares the same piece again. Repurposing finds a new piece inside the old one.
My test: could someone who saw the original still learn something from the new one? If not, it’s a repost.
How do you repurpose content with AI?
Start from one long thing you already made: a recorded talk, a podcast episode, a teaching video, a voice memo from a walk.
Get the transcript. Then ask for ideas, not a summary. This is the core of the prompt I gave the coaches in my April workshop.
“Identify the 10 most teachable moments in the transcript.
A teachable moment = one complete, standalone idea. NOT a summary of the session. NOT a recap.
If you can’t fit it in one post, it’s too big — break it.”
The ten moments then become five carousels, three short emails and two video scripts, all saved as drafts.
Nothing publishes by itself. You read, cut and choose.
When the output feels flat, look at the input first. A mediocre recording gives you mediocre posts. The prompt can’t pull gold that isn’t there.
What content is worth repurposing?
Your winners. On my app’s accounts, the photos were already more than 80% unique, so more variety wasn’t the lever.
New versions of posts that had already worked were.
Not everything deserves a second life. About 168 videos made before we fixed a cropped last slide are scrap.
They will never be posted, however tempting a full queue looks.
Languages have their own trap. My Spanish accounts trailed the French ones: a 0.50% like rate against 1.45%.
The obvious suspect was translation, but a native-language check scored them the same.
The real problem was that every Spanish post had the same listicle shape. Carry the idea across, then check the shape still fits.
Can you repurpose client work?
Repurpose your own words, not your client’s story. A theme that keeps coming up in sessions is fair to teach.
A client’s situation, quote or breakthrough needs their permission first. Anonymous is not the same as unrecognisable to the people who know them.
When it’s worth it, and when it isn’t
Repurposing pays off when you already make one long thing a week, like a call, a class or a podcast.
If you don’t, it can’t help yet. Your problem is supply, and you need a source before you need a system.
It also won’t fix a voice problem. If the drafts don’t sound like you, build a voice guide from how you speak first.
Next: give each repurposed piece a home with content pillars. Coaches can build this around their own sessions in AI for Coaches.
